grafted persimmon trees on a nursery bench

Details:

Persimmon trees are attractive deciduous trees growing to a maximum of 8m in height. Non astringent varieties are gaining popularity in Australia, both for gardens and commercial plantings.

Grafted plants are in 5L bags, 80cm to 1m in height.

Rootstock:

The rootstock for grafted plants is Diospyros kaki.

Variety:

“Fuyu”: A semi-dwarf non astringent variety that is the industry standard. Fuyu fruit is mid season fruit 220-250g in size with an excellent flavour. This variety self pollinates well in NSW.

Recommended spacing for Fuyu orchards is 5 m between rows and 3m between trees within the row (660 trees per hectare). Some farmers like to have a greater distance between the rows so there is space enough for tractors to pass between the rows (see table of tree density based on spacing between trees).

Information about growing persimmons can be found here.

Price:

$25 each (incl. GST)(2019 price)

ORDERS OF 30 PLANTS OR MORE ARE REQUIRED FOR DELIVERY BY TRUCK WITHIN NSW OR INTERSTATE TO VICTORIA AND QUEENSLAND ONLY.
