Black Sapote (Diospyros nigra) Seedling
Also known as ‘chocolate pudding fruit’ and Black Persimmon
Native to Central America’ this tree grows to about 8 meters. It is a beautiful tree with leathery glossy leaves. It is a hardy tree if protected from frost in the first couple of years.
The fruit is round, about 10 to 12 cm in diameter, green and ripening to a muddy green, the ripe fruit is soft with a rich chocolate color and the consistency of a chocolate pudding. The fruit is extremely rich in vitamin c.
The trees are approximately 40 to 60 cm high in a 4L planter bag.
